What is the ICT?

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Indonesia or commonly also known as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), is a technology that includes electronic devices, computers and telecommunications, wherein the software, which can be used to create, store, transmit, translate, and manipulate information in various forms. Communication technologies here, for example: Radio, Telecommunications, Intranet, Internet, and so on.

ICT infrastructure development in Indonesia also evolved, ranging from efforts to develop the Palapa Ring, INHERENT network, and Jardikas. Palapa Ring itself is a government effort to build a national fiber optic network that will reach as many as 33 provinces, 440 cities / districts across Indonesia. The Jardiknas itself a form of ICT infrastructure nationwide computer network, which is used for interconnection of the school (School Zone) in each city / district in Indonesia being developed by the Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education (PSMK) Mandikdasmen MONE. At the college level, the Directorate General of Higher Education (Higher Education) also helped develop a national-scale network infrastructure specifically among college called INHERENT (Indonesian Higher Education Network).

ICT in Education
Along with the development of ICT, its also benefits to expanding to various fields, ranging from simply for entertainment, government, and various other fields. One of the most perceived benefit is in the field of education, lack of access for the vast users to obtain any information required. Availability of ICT in educational institutions today, not only as a support, but rather become a necessity and obligation.
Utilization of ICT in education is through different types of applications, including: E-learning, Online Courses, Electronic Library, Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) and various types of other applications. Users will be able to utilize a variety of features that can be used to communicate, and access support materials through E-learning system.

In general, the use of ICT can support learning and spur independent initiative of students, because they can determine when and where they learn. For students who have a high level of learning speed, can speed up their learning process.
Delivery methods are often also accompanied by visualization and attractive design, equipped with audio-video, and virtual-reality seems to be in accordance with the interests of students. Another feature that allows students to interact with other friends could through messaging, chat, and join discussion forums available.

For the teachers, the availability of a wide range of applications that utilize ICT can also facilitate teachers in providing additional material that can support the learning process of students.
